WIP - Quest System - Narrative Design

Personal Project 

GOAL

  • Blueprints and Widgets only

  • Creating a quest system in Unreal 5.

  • This covers the principal types of quests present in video games. This will be used as a base to integrate other game systems, such as a Journal and Inventory system.​​

Next steps: 

  • Saving and loading mini-system 

  • Giving rewards when a stage of the quest is completed

  • Adding multiple quests

  • Overall polishing 

  • Debug

  • Adding inventory system

  • Adding journal system

Receiving a quest from an NPC

GOAL

  • Talking with an NPC to give a quest to the player. â€‹

NEXT STEPS

  • Integrate a visual cue to indicate that an NPC has a quest to give 

  • Ideal goal : Create a dialogue system to give the quest at the end of a conversation.

4 types of quests

GOAL

  • Creating 4 types of quests

    • Interacting with an object​

    • Killing an NPC 

    • Collecting many objects 

    • Reaching a specific location
       

  • Saving the progress in the quest menu ​

    • Currently, the 4 types of quest are contained in 1 main mission, as different stages to complete

  • Integrating a notification on screen when a stage is completed​
